Before this trip, I had never had to raise a sum of money even remotely close to the $4,300 that I need. Not even close. That is a sum larger than all of the money that I have made in my entire life from working. That is mainly because I have not had a consistent job for more than a couple months and even then babysitting and detassling are not the biggest moneymaking jobs that are out there. That being said, I was pretty nervous about having to raise such a large sum. I knew that I did not have that kinda money that I would be able to spend but I was told that fundraising would work for most if not all of the total. While that sounded pretty awesome to have the trip paid for by family and friends, I felt like I should not be asking for so much from people that have already given me so much. That perspective changed when our group of 7 that is going on the trip met for a retreat at Todd's house and we did a short and quick Bible study about fundraising. We looked at the many times in the Bible where God's servants were supported as they went about and did His work. Whether it was the women that supported Jesus and the disciples or the king giving Nehemiah enough money and materials to rebuild the Jerusalem wall.
That Bible study gave me an entirely new perspective on what I was asking others to do. I am not asking for others to give me money personally. I am asking that they would give money to the work of the Lord. That made things so much better for me as I was sending out around 70 letters and the blessings are on those who give as much as on those who God will touch with the money that has been given.
This all said, I was still unsure if I would be able to muster up the entire sum. After much worry and prayer, I have been checking my account over the last month or so and when I looked this week I had raised over the amount that I need for the trip. I want to thank all of you who have given to the Lord's work in Zambia. You all are great
Thanks again,
Aaron
